Nottingham Craft Mafia- Get Made!

Nottingham now has it's very own branch of the Craft Mafia, and what's more we even  have a Craft Mafia shop! It is called 'Get Made'. I took some of my brooches, cards and bags in last week and it is looking really great. It's just next to the Malt Cross on St James's Street and is full of a wonderful range of handmade goodies!

I'm working on a Christmassy range of brooches and cards which I hope to have ready in a week or so, here's a little taster of what's to come.

I have been working on a range of cards and notebooks from my original drawings which I will be adding to the for sale section soon. Here's an example of each: the top one is a ruby crested Kinglet card and the bottom is a Wren and a Wheateater lined noteebook. There are plenty more on the way too! Hope you like them! 

Last of the Summer festival...

I am going to have a stall at this event, selling some of my wares, including all the newest ranges: bags, cards, some new sets of badges and the newest animal brooches! Come along if you're able, it should be a really great day and my wonderful brother is playing too!

i've been busy busy busy recently and have come up with quite a few new items and there are plenty more on the way too! here's a little preview...it'll be a while before i get chance to add things to the FOR SALE section but in the meantime if you are interested in purchasing anything either email me (see the contact section on the top menu) or take a look in my etsy shop, i'll be listing as many new things there as i can.

The bag above is made out of a trouser leg left over from making some shorts!

And the cute little animal is a shrew! i also have a hedgehog, a goose, a penguin and a red panda on the way!

New cotton bags...

I have been working on a range of hand drawn cotton bags. here are a few pictures of them so far, all have a hand drawn logo on the back. They will be available for purchase soon, if you would like one of them in the meantime or if you would like one custom made please just email me with a request.

Hi everyone, just to update you, I have just added another animal to my brooch collection: a Ring-tailed Lemur, now available from my etsy shop.I'm working on a few more things at the moment too, I have just bought a screen for screen printing, so when I get the time I will start experimenting with that.

Sew U by Wendy Millin

This book is one of my favourite craft books of recent years. It's brilliant for those with neither the time nor the patience to learn pattern cutting in great depth. I count myself as one of those people but so far i have made 3 skirts and a shirt. You get the basic patterns for a skirt, shirt and trousers, all in 3 sizes. and the instructions are really easy to follow. There are some great tips for organising your sewing equipment and fabrics too and the book looks amazing as well!

Illustration Play, Gingko Press

This is a wonderful book! it is packed full of brilliant contemporary illustration, showcasing artists using a wide variety of techniques. Every page has something inspirational to offer. The artist interviews at the back are great too!

Tactile: High Touch Visuals

This book is really amazing, it's full of great work, it reminds me of being in a gallery and coming across a piece of art that makes you want to touch it, and you can't help but wait till no-one's looking and have a little touch just to see what it feels like. Well at least with this book there's nobody to tell you off , and although it's not quite the same touching a page in a book it's fascinating all the same.
